The collection comprises two business letters sent by Ernest Slingeneyer to Mogford, his British friend and associate. The artist asks him to find out what subject Algernon Graves would like him to paint, as he still has time to execute it for the next London exhibition. Slingeneyer also promises that he and the art dealer Coûteaux will reward Mogford's involvement in the subscription for his painting currently on sale. Sends best wishes for the beginning of the new year (n.d.) [Jan. 1894]. In the second letter the artist sends his friend the information he has requested for the English painters who would like to participate in the upcoming Brussels exhibition. He then urges Mogford to send at once the results of the subscription for the sale of his painting, currently on exhibition at Sydenham, London. His contract with Coûteaux has expired, and the dealer may take it back for a sharply reduced price, which would make the artist lose thousands of francs. Slingeneyer is eager to bring an end to this "desagréable affaire" (1854 July 3).
